Buffalo Sabres

THE STORY

No logo conveyed a team name without the use of letters better than the 1970-1971 Buffalo Sabres, with a white buffalo leaping between two crossed sabres. With everything said on the logo the uniforms didn’t need much flair, a simple blue and gold color scheme to match the logo, a shoulder yoke on the home whites, and three thin stripes across the waist and on each arm. The Sabres wore this popular uniform set with only minor adjustments for their first 25 seasons. The Sabres brought the old look back as an alternate uniform in 2006, then again for the first NHL Winter Classic in 2008. In 2010-2011 a version of the original set was brought back full-time but with the addition of silver and a swap to a much darker shade of blue.
